The most recent show of Supernatural began with Sam and Dean investigating what they find to be the Anti-Santa which has some roots in pagan lore. The perpetrator murders its victims and then pulls them up through the chimney. The odd chain of events could not have come at a worse time, its Christmas time and Dean wants nothing more than to celebrate his last holidays with a good old fashioned Christmas. Sam however refuses to even listen to the thought because he will just not accept that it will be the last Christmas he will have with his brother. They learn that if the pagan lore is true that the Anti-Santa will have a limp and smell like candy. They later find out that the being is taking victims from homes that have identical wreaths made of meadowsweet hanging on the doors that is suppose to attract pagan Gods. The boys go to a neighboring house where the victims purchased the wreaths and are told by the Carrigans that they do not have anymore. They later find out that evergreen stakes can kill pagan Gods and quickly grab a few and return to the house. They are knocked out and find that the Carrigans themselves are pagan Gods forced to live urban live because of the uprising of Christianity. The Carrigans begin to slowly torture the boys by removing one of Sam’s fingernails. The boys are saved when neighbors come to visit and they have time to get free. They barricade the Carrigans in the kitchen and although they manage to escape the boys are able to kill them with the spears. After the job is done the boys return to the hotel to spend the first Christmas in a very long time together and Dean finally gets his wish and gets to have a semi-old fashioned Christmas with Sam.
